Brown Sheep—the early years The story of Brown Sheep Yarn Company dates back to the early 20th century when Edward Brown started a sheep farm near Mitchell, Nebraska. The farm passed to his son, Mark, and then to grandson Harlan. By 1947, they were raising 20,000 lambs annually. But with declining demand for lambs in the 70s, they looked to make a change.
